DEREK RIGGS is a self-taught British artist best known for his creation of Iron Maiden’s mascot “Eddie”. Having first created the character for a possible punk cover, Riggs was asked to adapt it for Iron Maiden by adding hair to it. Eddie appeared on the debut album Iron Maiden in 1980. Riggs continued working with the band throughout the 80s and 90s, creating much of their iconic imagery and album covers.
