Kayla Ballesteros is an artist who experiments with illustration, painting, comics, and sculpture, blending traditional and digital mediums to truly express herself. She was inspired early in her life by movies, animation, comic books, and her father’s own love for art. Growing up on the south side of Tucson, Kayla brings a multicultural perspective to her work. After earning a BFA in Visual Communications from the University of Arizona, Kayla has showcased her art at various conventions and markets. Her first solo exhibition, Astral Panic, was held in November 2023 and marked a significant milestone. This exhibition explored how art can help one to understand intense emotions and panic attacks. The characters created for this project were manifestations of introspection, anxiety, and the complexities of relationships. Kayla’s art is known for its intricate details and intense line work, drawing inspiration from folklore, surrealism, and etherealism. You can find all her work, socials, and shops on her website!
