Comic Artist
The Punisher, X-Factor, Spawn
WHILCE PORTACIO broke into the comic book industry as an inker to Marvel Comics’ classic book Longshot in 1985, then later proved he was more than ready to headline as a penciler on The Punisher in 1988.
His success drawing X-Factor in the 90s gave him the chance to create his own, now fan favorite X- Men character: Bishop.
Whilce was also a co-founder of the Image Comics, one of the top independent comic publishers in the world today. At Image, Whilce created “Wetworks”. He then went on to release the successful independent title Stone with his friend and co-creator Brian Haberlin. Stone Vol. 2 is currently in the works.
In 1996, he returned to Marvel to draw “Heroes Reborn: Iron Man” followed by X Force. In the new millennium, Whilce signed up with DC Comics and released Stormwatch, Batman Confidential and Wetworks vol.2. To date, Whilce continues to release books and covers under Marvel and DC Comics, with recent projects like X-Men Legends (with Haberlin as his writer) Deadpool Seven Slaughters, Iron Fist and Iron Man, and is very active in the world of comic book industry.
Whilce will be attending the Tucson Comic-Con all weekend. For commission inquiries, please email po************@***il.com.
