ABOUT TUCSON COMIC-CON
Tucson Comic-Con, founded in 2008 by Mike Olivares, began as a single-day event attended by 500 fans. Since then, attendance has steadily grown to over 10,000 fans in 2015.
Tucson Comic-Con is dedicated to brining an epic community-based pop culture experience for all that reflects today’s fandom and the unique nature of Tucson, Arizona and the American Southwest.
In November 2015, founder Mike Olivares announced the welcoming of comic book industry veterans Brian and Francisca Pulido as co-owners of Tucson Comic Con. Teresita Olivares has taken an active management role as well.
“The Pulidos share our love, passion and vision for Tucson Comic Con,” says founder and convention director Mike Olivares. “Our intention is to grow Tucson Comic-Con – and the week leading up to it – into a citywide event that becomes a global destination celebrating all things pop culture, all the while highlighting what makes Tucson a unique city.”
“We are honored to be a part of Tucson’s premiere pop cultural event,” says Brian Pulido. “Mike has fostered an amazing community spirit with Tucson Comic-Con. We look forward to building on the foundation he’s built and rolling out new features and experiences for attendees, guests and vendors.”
The new partnership takes place immediately, but the full impact of the new pact will begin in 2016 and beyond.
